description:
Streptavidin is a 52,800 dalton homotetramer protein. It has an extraordinarily high affinity for biotin, one molecule of streptavidin binds four molecules of biotin by a non-covalent interaction that is essentially irreversible. Streptavidin-Cy3 is useful for the detection of biotinylated antibodies, proteins, nucleic acids or other molecules in immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC), immunofluorescence (IF), in situ hybridization (ISH), or flow cytometry. Cy3 is excited maximally at 554 nm, emits maximally at 568 nm.
